Took a trip to the Botanical Gardens. So Inspiring! All the shapes, textures and patterns of nature. I wanted to whizz home and sew up sew rainforest Sprytes.

The Beauty of Nature

Here is a compilation of some photos I have taken over the years when the magic of natures beauty has literally taken my breath away, couples with wonderful quotes I have found.

I always wonder how there can be so much hurt and pain in the world, when we are surrounded by such spectacular beauty. Is it there to make those pains and troubles easier? So that we can look out of our windows, or go for a walk on a hard day, and be comforted, be reassured that there is beauty in the world, and that no matter what happens, Nature will always be providing a jaw-dropping stage upon which we perform the play that is life.

New Years Eve

Happy New Year everybody!

I hope you all had a good evening welcoming the new year in. This year, I didn't go out I stayed in with a friend, sat in the garden and lit a big fire.

It was the perfect evening to say goodbye to a wonderful year, and to look forward to whateve 2012 may hold for me. My friend and I wrote our wishes for 2012 on a sheet, and put it into the fire at the stroke of midnight.

We managed to keep the fire going all night, it was so beautiful, not to mention captivating. The flames even went green for a few minutes! Alas, the camera could not capture the colour, so it will have to be a memory I remember, rather then capture...

I didn't really have any wants for the new year, so I just asked for happiness and adventures. What more could I ever need anyway?

Making Books.....

For Christmas, I gave the Faebys their own bags, filled with a crafting kit. Goldilocks recieved a sewing kit, with lots of fat quaters, and Little Fae received fimo, shapers, some felt, fur, feathers and googly eyes!

They decided they both wanted to make a book each, that they can sketch all their ideas down in....

We made the pages out of thing we found around the house, old drawwings, bags, it was lots of fun finding unusual things we could use!

German Adventures!

Last weekend, or even the weekend before that perhaps, I went to Germany!

A spur of the moment decision for a friend and I, we booked 3 days in Bonn to do some Christmas shopping in the Markets, to enjoy the Glu-wine, German sausage and soak up the wonderful Christmas atmosphere...

I very much wanted one of these mugs! =( They are what the Glu-Wine was served in...

We stopped for a day in Koln, (Cologne) and checked out the market there too. Not as good as Bonn. It was very busy, and the stalls weren't as nice as the ones we had seen in Bonn.

This was a nice view though!

A finished Faery house!

We finally finished the Faery House!
We have had so much fun building it, thinking up ideas, hunting for twigs, acorns, moss, stones and many other things besides!
I think it looks fab, and am so proud of the Faeby's. They did an ACE job. Unsuprisingly, I didnt have my camera for the very last finishing touches, so hopefully the pics from my phone are acceptable.
Luckily, I did have my camera last week, and took lots of photos then, all that was missing really was the light from the fire, so its not all bad!!

Its got a paving stone floor, a pond, and jewel encrusted rock on which Toadstools spout, and is the perfect place to sit and fish =)

Little Fae was rather worried about all the mess, so made a little broom so the faeries could sweep and tidy the place up!

Adding the finishing touches! Goldi-Locks is filling in the gaps between the paving slabs with moss.

The Fishing Pond, Tin foil, coloured with blue and green highlighters, then covered with cling film !

Inside.. From this angle you can see the glue at the back under the kitchen worktop. You can't from a standing view though. May have to fix that!!! The kitchen side has a walnut sink, some acorn bowls, acorn pots,pans and plates. The Faebys loved fining all the different shaped ones, exclaiming, this ones perfect for a bowl! Look! This ones flat like a bowl! WOW! This ones massive! And the most excitement came from the ones that had the stalks on and looked like frying pans and cooking pots, especially when you could find a perfect lid!! !

You can also see the little fire burning away in the corner there, with a tri-pod hanging over. The original fire was much nicer, we stuck coloured glass stones around the light, which made them all glow! It broke though, so this was the next best thing..

It makes me want to fix up my own faery house, which has fallen into a little disrepair, due to the house move, and various travelling. In the new year, I am definitely fixing it up!

Forest School Conference

Today I attended a Forest school and Outdoor Learning Conference.

We learnt varied outdoor cooking skills, and I spent allot of time making a wash stand from branches.

The Chestnut Soup (Which was SO delicious!) All those tin Foil balls are Jacket potatoes and Roasted apple with Honey....

The Venison soup...

Hard at work making a wash stand! I and a fellow Wash-Stand-Maker sawn all these with a hand saw, and used a bull (Bell?) axe to point the ends so they could be hanmmered into the ground.

We hammered them in with hand made mallets, from stumps of wood. (You can just see on elying on the ground)

I loved this, I felt like a real woodswoman!

After cooking, we got to play with reclaimed building materials, that a company called WEAVE (Click Here) supplied.
They run days at schools and parke, where children have the freedom to build and play, making dens, cars, boats, and exploring fine motor skills.
We had fun too!

It was a great day, that re-sparked my love and interest in the outdoor environment.

I think it is so importnant for children to have 'outdoor' time, that nowdays seems to be so difficult to to obtain.

Mushroom Mayhem!

Today, I explored the garden of the new house I nanny, they live on a large farm, and are over-run with toadstools and mushrooms!!

They little one (20 Months) helped me find them, then I picked them and put them in a pot.

I can't believe how many types we found!!

Faery Cottage

Working on the Faerie Cottage again yesterday. we got a super amount of work done!!

Here is the back of the cottage, a shelf with acron cups, the kitchen counter, and a fire. the Kitchen area has a leaf roof, that lights up beautifully thanks to the fire.

We havent done the floor yet, we are still deciding what it will be. Any ideas?

This is a shot with the flash, so you can see it all a bit better!

This rock is found just outside the house, Goldilocks put the gems in, and little fae made the toadstools.

The rock will hang over a little pond.

Some shots of the fire. it is made from an lectric tea-light. I broke of the majority of the plastic, leaving only the top, and the light. I set red and amber glass stones around it, wrapped moss around the whole thing, and added some leaves and then he sticks to hang a teapot from later.

The switch to turn it on and of slips through the wall, so it is easy to use!

Cake, Snapdragons and Skulls?

Before we went home from school yesterday, we stopped in at the cafe at the Church opposite. I gave the Faebys money for cake, and let them go choose and buy whatever they liked for a treat.

Goldilocks learnt about holding your ground in bustling, jostling queues, and kept shooting furious glares at people who bumbed her!

Little Fae just held on to Goldilock's hand at tight as he could!!

They came back to the table, prizes in hand.

Naturally, Little Fae had chosen THE biggest slice of chocolate cake I have EVER seen!!

He started on it rather politley with his fork, taking tiny little peices.

Of course, I couldnt help but prompt him to just take a massive bite out of it. He looks up at me out of the corner of his eye, then grins from ear to ear.

Needless to say, he devoured it so quick, I could hardly get a pic =)

Goldilocks was much more reserved, and had a respectable scone, with Jam and butter.

On leaving the church, I introduced Goldilocks to the wonder og Snap-Dragons. Needless to say, she loved them!

And a very cool tombstone too. Though Goldilocks couldnt understand why on earth you would want a skull on your grave.... !!!

More Faerie Houses...

Me and the Faeby's have had to take our Faerie House creating indoors, as the weather has gotten rather chilly! Brrrrrrrr.

Last week we made some furniture for the Faerie Castle, me and Little Fae made a banqueting table, with acorn serving bowls. Now just to find something to fill them with!

Note the essential crafting equipment in the background: Glue Gun and a mug of tea!

We then made an essential for any Castle. A Throne!

This week, we got started on an indoor project. A faerie Cottage. We got quite allot of work done, actually! We put up the frame, and two walls.

GoldiLocks and Little Fae were brimming with ideas, I cant wait to get started on the fun bits with them !

The bare bones of the house... Little Fae was very worried when I told him we would be building the skeleton of the house when we got home!!! Skeleton!!!?

Goldi-locks made a great curtained wall! So they can just pull back the curatins in the morning =)

Half Term Run-Around!

How busy a Half Term can make you! It has been rather draining too actually, pretty much everything that could go wrong for me, did. Looking back now, The whole week seems like a bit of a blur!

Of course, I did have lots of fun, Halloween baking, cookies, biscuits, visits to the park, the river, aand of course, Faerie Fun with the Faebys.

Here are some halloween themed biscuits I made with a little girl I am nannying on wednesdays. Aren't they fab?

The little girl drew a picture of this witchy biscuit on paper, then molded her biscuit mixture and iced it all herself! And it looked remarkably like her drawing!

And a toe one....

We then relaxed at the park... theres a rainbow in the distance, can you see it?

And here are the biscuits the Faeby's and I made together. They didnt cook so well! We kept splitting the mixture to make other flavours!

GoldiLocks included:

Frog's Spit - A mixture of Cinammon and Nutmeg, which liberal dashes of green food colouring!
Dragon Dropppings - Mainly Chocolate. I'm pretty sure the ratio of flour to choc was around 1:4!

Little Fae made one that was 99% Sprinkles. And he made a wonderrrful nutmeg one!

We were left with a terrible mess, but luckily, Little Fae LOVES washing up!

We also made a dining table and Throne for the faerie castle, heres a little sneak peak, I will do a Fae dedicated soon, so you can see!

I'm looking after a new little boy too, who is just toddling round on his feet, and learning to talk, which is so much fun! We went to go feed the ducks, but he was much more interested in the 'Blue Sky!'

I also did my first stall this week! I did not sell anything, but it was a good experience, I learnt allot, and am looking forward to my next one.

Heres how it looked!!

Then, Halloween came upon me! While getting ready, my camera battery fell into a cup of water, broke. Then , I poked myself in the eye, while painting my face. I ignored the pain all evening, (with the help of Bells Whiskey)

But, when I woke up in the morn, the pain was unreal. My eyes were watering like hell, and blinking was about as easy as stabbing myself in the eye with a serrated needle.

I took some painkillers, and tried to ignore the pain. Halfway home, I realised tha it was getting worse, and I now couldn't actually open my eyes, and had lost vision in my right. =(

I stopped at the pharmacy, where they suggested I go to the emergency hospital, my friend came and got me, and took me up.

I had a load of tests done, and they said I had a large abbrassion (Or Graze) accross my cornea. She bandaged my eyes and gave me some drops. She also booked me an appointment at the Eye Hospital the next day.

At the Hospital, I had my bandages removed, and I was releived to see the abbrasion had healed over allready! The pain has gone, and I am only left with a little 'weird feeling' on my eye. The Doc said to just be carefull of my eyelid sticking to the scab and ripping it off when they open, so I have ointment to keep them moist =)

Yesterday I carved pumpkins to cheer myself up =) I did the smaller one (Way to exhausted to attempt doing a large one!) And my brother did the beast of a pumpkin.

Hope everyone had a wonderfull Halloween, and remember, Dont put painbrushes in your eyes!!!

Corpses Bride for Halloween?

This year for Halloween I'm going with a Corpses Bride/Zombie Bride type thing.
I wanted to be a bit greenish, like I had just crawled outta my grave.

I havent had as much time as I would have liked on my costume this year, I have been so busy with Nannying and getting ready for a Craft Fair I'm doing tomorow.
I've also been feeling rather run down on top of everything else, but i knew i had to have at least one test run for my make-up.

So here it is! There's a few variations here, maybe 3 I think? I cant quite decide which one I like. Or If i'd like a blend of all three..

Which one do you like best? The dress is a biiiig white wedding dress that I will cut up and dirty. I was thinking of painting a very faint ribcage on the corset of the dress.....

Getting ready for Halloween!

The Fae'bys and I have been getting ready for Halloween!

It was also Goldilocks birthday, so she got to show me all her goodies!

These are the arm warmers I made her, she was very pleased with them!

Here's some of her gifts.....

She got about 15 bottles of Faerie Glitter!!

She told me her favourite gift was this bowl of 'Faerie-ness'

GoldiLocks started off wanting to be a Vampire, and then The Corpses Bride.
The test run for Corpses bride didn't go as well as hoped, and she wasn't pleased with the outcome at all!
So, we washed it off, and decided just to have some fun instead.

Me and the Faeby's spent a cosy day inside yesterday, Goldilocks had been stung by a wasp during the day, and was a little hesitant to go into the woods!

I gave them the bracelets I had bought them in Spain, they were very pleased that we were all matching, but Little Fae expressed his dissapointment, and told me he wanted to be a girl, so he could wear lots of bracelets too. He was happier though, when I told him he could wear as many bracelets as he liked, and remain a boy... ;)

Little Fae also recieved some treasure from Faeriewords ( I was very late in getting gifts out!)
And so he wanted to look through his Pirate Pouch, in which he keeps all the treasure he has either recieved from me from my trips, or we have bought/found together on adventures... Its becoming quite a collection!
Note he has some dragons in there to guard his loot for him ;)

GoldiLocks made some bracelets to give to her friends on her birthday party this Saturday, and unfortunately I forgot to take pics! =(

Little Fae was upset we were not doing the Faerie Castle again this week, so to cheer him up, we brought his collection inside and built a little house for fun...

He told be it is a house for a Good Goblin, and he has a Neighbour who is a pixie...

Faerie Houses

Me and the Faebys are building a Faerie house in their back garden, we are having so much fun finding little bits and pieces, and it is growing rather well!
Yesterday they showed me all the things they had foraged, it was incredible! They had been to a farm at the weekend, and had found wonderfull moss covered logs, seeds, leaves, conkers..... we are going to have a wonderful time furnishing our Castle!
Its looking a little bit unstructured though, as we have mainly used sticks, and we are struggling to create distinct outlines. We started to use cut grass as a 'plaster' on the walls in the main room, and that has worked well enough!
We were/are trying to keep it as natural as possible, until yesterday we had only used things we found in the woods, but I felt we needed a little help, and I brought along some string so we can build better structures.. I am also tempted to purchase some glue of some kind, as I am not sure how we can build furniture with out a way a fixation.

Unfortunaltley, I did not have my camera yesterday, so instead I will show you some other faery houses I found online =)

The British Faery

A Faerie Castle

Me and the Faebys are building a faerie house! (Or rather a Faerie Castle) We started last week, but only managed to get the frame up. Yesterday we did allot of work!

At first the Faebys were very unsure of what to do, and wanted lots of direction and instruction, but by the end of the day, they were whizzing around everywhere, and coming up with the most excellent ideas, that they needed no help in bringing to life !

GoldiLocks found this amazing birds nest on the floor, so we put it ontop
of the Castle turret that Little Fae found, and wallah! we have a watchtower! Rightfully so, Goldilocks
said we should put some moss in it, as someone as important as a watchman deserves somewhere comfy!!

The main room being built, my Little Fae's master skills!

Goldilocks built the bedroom upstairs, with a moss bed and leaf carpet...
The moss has been placed on sticks that bow, so the bed is all 'snug'

We have lots more to do, and the Faeby's are very excited. as am I!

Manic Months...

Since coming home from Ireland, I'm feeling a little hazy and thinly spread.
There are so many areas of my life calling me that I am finding it impossible to chose one, as it means discarding the others, or at least putting them in a 'To Do Later' Pile.

But what do I put in the pile? The travelling? The Spytes? Making this new house my home?

I keep telling myself after 'this' I will find a job abroad. After Faerieworlds, after Spain, after Ireland, now after Christmas?

I am enjoying working hard on my Sprytes, but I know that deep down, I can do the Sprytes whatever age I am, but travelling can only really be done while I am 'young'. But I am having so much fun with it, I feel like I am throwing away a great opportunity.

But am I throwing away a bigger opportunity by staying here and not seeing the world? Why am I so hesitant to just go out there and take a chance?

I hate, hate that I need money to live. It seems like a very cruel joke upon us all that we are given no choice really in the matter.

Over the next few days I have to face up to it, and actually decide what it is I am going to do.
I think, I am going to try find a nanny job locally, part-time, and work on my dolls till the new year. Then I WILL chase my dreams.

The Sprytes very own Blog!!

I've created a blog dedicated to the Woodland Sprytes!
I enjoyed blogging about them, but didn't like doing it in this blog, as I felt it is more for my own adventures and thoughts, and didn't want to mix both business and personal.

So now I have an entire blog to chat Sprytes, sewing and crafting! It will feature insights and teasers of things I am working on!

On a personal note, I have been keeping myself busy with nannying, and now thats finished (They've gone back to school) I am trying to get busy with the Sprytes, and really work it as a business. Which is much harder than I though! I find myself split in a hundred different ways, and never really sure what I SHOULD be doing.

I am also trying to find something to actually earn some money, and decide wether I want to stay here, move away... and so of course, because I want to do both, and in the same breath NOT do both, I end up doing neither!!!

I really want to go to an Ashram in India, and I have been in contact with one, but I know I will need money to get over there, at least!

On a much happier note, I get to see my Faebys on Tuesday! They have been in Spain all summer, and I miss them very much!!!!

I absolutely love making them, and feel so grateful that there are people who want to buy them and give them homes, otherwise I would be over run by the little trouble makers!

Yes, More walking alongside the Canal. This time it was a long, long walk all the way into Oxford. A good 3 hour hike!

I took my camera this time, too.

How amazing are all these boats? We were very lucky during this stroll to see such a neat collection! Though of course, we did see some really battered and bruised ones too.... =(

Have been enjoying lazy days waltzing alongside the Canal since I have been home. Pure Bliss!!

I would LOVE to live on a Canal Boat, chilling in the evening watching the moonlight reflect on the ripples in the water, rocking to and fro as I fall asleep, and of course getting to paint it all fancy.

How simple life would be!

I could just float away for a weekend adventure any time I felt the fancy take me....

Oh to Dream....

Sorry for the absence bloggers! Ive been sunning myself in Spain, listening to music, dancing, and laughing with friends.....

The second day brought more beach

We spent all day chilling out on the beach, swimming in the sea, and climbing on the rocks. This turned out to not be such a good idea, and I spent the rest of the festival with my feet bandaged....

When the evening began to draw in, we started to paint our faces.... Oh the swirls and glitter!

Our First night started with Paolo.... <3

And Finished with Pendulum!! There set was INCREDIBLE.

The Second day bought more lazing at the beach!

And Glitter, Of course....

The evening brought us Friendly Fires. I had never really listened to them much, other than a few of there well known songs. But I am definitely a fan now. They were brilliant!! And it helps that Ed dances like a genius too..... =)

And the reason I went,,,, Mumford & Sons. They were so brilliantly beautiful I nearly cried with pure JOY.

And the Arctic Monkeys!! They were brilliant too, we danced so hard!

The Last Night..... =(

So the last night bought us Noah and The Whale, we sang so loud to the two songs we knew!! And grinned like fools as we danced and sang to Life Goes On!!!!

We finished our Benicassim Adventure with Arcade Fire, who were just, incredible. I have not stopped listening to them since I got home....!!!

Music Making...

While climbing on our favourite tree, we started hitting sticks together, and shaking ones with leaves on to make music. W then realised that hitting the dead branches on the willow would be perfect. It was.... We spent about 2 hours coming up with new tunes and finding 'low' and 'high' sounds!

Settling into a new home....

Just after I flew home, we moved house. I knew we would be moving before I left, so I sold most of my belongings, and packed the rest.

The last week has flown by, seeing friends, moving boxes, emptying boxes, looking after the Faeby's and organising for my trip to Spain.

The room I have in the new house is very different to my previous room, and it is taking a while to wrap my head around it! Its very small, and so means I have to be clever in the way I furnish and in which things I actually 'need'.

I surprisingly enjoy it! Though, I haven't had any time to make it my own, to unpack my things fully, or to decide what to paint on the walls or whether to paint them at all!!

I can't decide wether to do a '60's Psychedelic Art' style Mandala, or a Peter Max, Beatles-esque type thing....

What I have been up to these last two weeks:

Me and the Faebys went for cupcakes, where Aranion sulked because we ate them all before he got any....

Little Fae wanted to go the the GraveYard, so we walked reading all the Head Stones. Goldi Locks was relieved to find out that they are buried 6 feet under, opposed to a thin layer of soil, like she thought...

Little Fae was rather quiet, but loved hearing the names and dates of all the people, asking me to read every single one....

As we were leaving, I realised that this is the graveyard where JRR Tolkien is buried....

Cowley Road Carnival! It was a brief visit for me, but I loved it =)

What do you love?

When you look around yourself, what catches your eye, and makes you feel joy?

How often do you take deliberately take time out of your day to do something that makes you feel Joyful and Content?

When ever people ask me what I do for a living, I struggle to answer them directly. I instantly doubt myself. What DO I do?

I find myself feeling embarrassed, ashamed even! That I don't have what is labelled a 'proper' job.

I don't have a 7 day 9-5 job. I don't have a career.

People raise there eyebrows at me when I sheepishly reply 'nothing'.

Of course, that isn't true.

I nanny most days, babysit, and of course sew up dolls in any free moment.

Sure, somedays I do decide to do 'nothing' I enjoy my day, spend time with family and friends.

But when did living, being alive and being happy, become nothing?

When did earning money become more important than being happy?

I did have a full time job, and it made me miserable. I am thankful for the lesson it taught me.

I only have one life, and I'm not wasting that life being miserable, having regrets on wasted wishes.

It took me along time to realise that when my last day comes, what will I be thankful for?

Will I be glad I slaved everyday away, with no joy, or happiness?

Or will i find those memories of laughter and dancing?

Of my travels and adventures?

Which is more important?

I decided to take the memories. I earn just enough to pay my parents some rent when I'm home, and save the rest towards travel.

If being happy, free and full of joy means I am 'poor', or labels me 'unusual' if it means i cant afford those luxuries or fancy clothes, then so be it.

I welcome it.

And the longer I have been doing 'Nothing' the more I don't WANT anything.

I'd rather have Life.

Never think that just because you don't fit into the regular society labels, because you are different, un-usual and unique, that you aren't as good as people who strive to be successful, popular and rich.

At the end of the day, who is happiest? The person glad to be in their own skin, accepting themselves and all their quirks, or the person denying them-self, wishing they could be 'better?'

I am still working on being happy in my own skin, but I'm much closer than i was when I was working myself into the ground.

I have so many things in my life to be grateful for, but the thing I am most grateful for is my two, wonderful parents.

Falling

A few years ago, while camping in wales, I came upon a ledge looking over a waterfall, two boots were leant up against the wall, and far below, in the water, a man sawm.
Another man, a few feet away, with his arm in a cast, tells me I should jump. Its safe, he does it all the time. I take his advice lightly, After all, he is in a cast.

I decide to do it. It takes me a good while to muster the courage, and I think I did only jump in the end because the guy who jumped before was freezing to death waiting for me...

It was the best experience of my life.

Free falling with no control over the situation, the adrenaline, the land leaving you, the air taking you and the water, waiting for you.

I loved the intense fear I felt before I leaped, being utterly consumed as the adrenaline took over, and the joy when I was submerged into the water.

Rain Day!

It POURED with rain today.

I mean, really rained.

I think I have cold.

I was dressed in yesterdays clothes.

Yesterday was 21 Degrees.

Today, it rained.

So what else is there to do but make silly faces and sew?

And run around in the rain, of course. The Fae'bys were not so sure... And the rain was being indecisive.

Me and the Fae'by's went on a little adventure, last week, Goldilocks is always asking to go to places we have never seen before, and so it was nice to finally get to adventure!!

We followed a small path that went over and then under a fantastic troll bridge, and here are the Fae'bys looking for their Pooh Sticks. ( The water was still, so they didn't go far!! )

We then danced in a meadow with the butterflies, like real Fae. <3

And had a picnic in a tree. =) We are planning to go back next week, and adventure further afield, to see what we can find. =)

Even though I have found myself rushed of my feet, I still find time to dream about dolls. These are sketches by Ditzerelli, (I think!) who illustrates The SpiderWick Chronicles along with Holly Black.

These images make me want to rush to my sewing machine ASAP! I am for sure going to be making a regal Spryte when I have time. Look at that dress!

And a King too, of course. I don't make enough boy sprytes... though I actually prefer them to the girls...

I love the clothes this character is wearing. Will definitely have to play around with some leather.

I am currently working on a Spryte for myself, my own little Daemon. Im very excited to finish him off, and hopefully he should be done in the next day or two.

There is also a Dragon in thw works for Little Fae's Birthday, I cant put pictures up however, as sometimes Goldilocks looks on here, and I wouldn't want to ruin the surprise! But he looks ACE.

Yep, still rushing around, sewing Sprytes as I do so.

And when im not sewing, im photographing, networking, talking to buyers on Facebook, making costumes for FaerieWorlds, Packing, Getting ready to move house, Nannying, Babysitting, and finallly...sleeeping.

For some insaane reason, I thought I would set up a website. So now I am manically doing that. Who knew it was so much effort??

Not me thats for sure....

So, to keep me sane, I am listening to Fever Ray's Album, over and over and... over.

Summer Picnics and Silliness

Ive had the Fae'bys for some 'whole' days the last 2 weeks, and on our last 'whole' day, we decided to be snuggly and sleepy aaalllll day =)

We started of with good intentions.......

We built a 'Snuggle Tent'.....

No one knows how to snuggle better than Little Fae!

But... the builders came and disrupted us and we had to go downstairs.. so we cheered ourselves uop by making cake!!

We were going to make fairy cakes, (Essential Pyjama day Ingredient!!) but couldn't find the right cakes tin! So we settled for 'Flat cake'. We made it greeen <3

We decided that Picnics are equal to sleeping., and so headed to the garden!

And of course, garden time is never right without GoldiLocks Guinea's. I would take a guess and say this is Tilly-Mouse. There are 5, and they all have double barrelled names. I will never be able to remember them! Lets have a go, they are (something) like = Speedy Blacky, Freddy Horsey, Hmm. That seems to be all that I can remember! (Im sure GlodiLocks will be in hysterics to hear me name them all so incorrectly!)

Our sleepy day took an unexpected turn, onto the trampoline!

New Sprytes!

Let me first introduce Edelweiss!!

Edelweiss is a playful little Spryte, who loves to laugh and chatter with all the other Sprytes. She is always dressed beautifully, and rather enjoys collecting flowers for her hair, and shells and stones to make jewellery with!
You can always find Edelweiss in the middle of a crowd, plaiting someone's hair, or indeed having her own done!!

Kruhks

Kruhks is wilder than most Woodland Sprytes, he lives alone, away from the Clans and Tribes, although he can be found watching them, intrigued.
Dispite his appearance hinting otherwise, Kruhks is quiet and shy, yet very compassionate, and incredibly wise!

Meekoh

Meekoh is an inquisitive little Spryte, who is always getting into trouble, because he just can't resist doing what he shouldn't!!

No matter how many times the other Sprytes warn him not to touch,open.jump,or play with something, Meekoh will always do the opposite.... He especially loves seeing how much honey he can steal before he gets stung!! (Which is usually not a lot!)

Salientia

Salientia is a friend to the frogs, and after centuries of looking after them, he has started to look curiously like them.
Salientia can't remember when the transformation started, or when it will end, or indeed if he will actually become a fully-fledged frog! (He would never admit this, but he has been seen enjoying a juicy fly here and there!)

You will usually find him near a pond or thick, leafy foliage, trying to prise out baby frogs that have gotten stuck...!!

Even though he is slowly turning into a Frog, Salientia has a wonderful sense of humour, and is forever keeping the frogs chuckling!!

Adventures in the Shire

My Fae'bys are on their Easter Break, and so today I took them into the grand City Of Oxford for adventures.

Of course, the day started with food!! In a 'secret' cafe I love down the back streets of oxford. Wild mushrrom Rissotto! Delish.

Climbing St Micheals Tower. The Oldest building in Oxford. GoldiLocks made friends with a fellow winged Oxfordian that had sneck into the Tower.

He was very good at distracting a distraught little Fae. He was worried about suddenly fallling down the tower.....

I couldn't resist taking this photo - I had just told GoliLocks that an Archbishop has been burnt at the stake, (for not converting to Catholisism) And exactly what 'Burnt at the stake' meant.

She wasn't pleased.

We finaly got to the top! Little Fae seemed to be cured of all fear, and was running around the top of the tower like a madman.

The Tom Show!

Was a bit 'In your face', but the kids laughed all the way through, so I guess thats the whole point!!

Though he did yell 'Ungratefull Bastards!' at some folks who wandered of without giving a donation...

He posed for a Photo though....

And of course, no trip to the Shire would be complete with out a Moo-Moo's Milkshake. They make Milkshakes of ANY Flavour. I mean, ANY. This is their 'fruit' sign. I SO wish I had got them a pic infornt of all their flavours!! They make Milkshakes with every brand of sweet/candy, chocolate, cakes, biscuit. Literally. The kids played it safe, (I think they were overwhelemed) Goldilocks had Fruit Salad chewits, and Little Fae had Marshmellow. Yum!

Rings on her fingers, and Bells on her toes, and she shall have Music wherever she goes.

Please let me introduce Bei'aed. my newest Woodland Spryte, up for adoption!

Bei'aed is a Moss Spryte!

Bei'aed is a cheeky, outgoing little Spryte, who loves nothing more than making someone else smile.
He infamous for getting into trouble, and famous for being able to talk his way out of it!! When all the Sprytes get together, Bei'aed just can't seem to help himself but lead the entire group into

mass hysterics.

Elsebeth is a quiet, shy and reserved Woodland Spryte.

She can always be found whispering with the Daisies, the Daffodils or the DandyLions!!

She prefers the peaceful company of the flowers to the noisy hubbub of the other, cheeky Sprytes...

When she is not chattering to the flowers, she lies on the large Rhubarb leaves, dreaming the day away....

Please Welcome my newest Woodland Spryte!

Pandora is a recluse, living high up in the trees.

She is hard, sometimes mean, and always determined.

Pandora is a born hunter gatherer, so she needs only her own wit to get by. For things she cannot get herself, she trades the extra fur and food she gathers.

For example, her most prized possesion, her cloak, was a trade with a skilled Spryte in need of fur.

She has a leather dress, leg shields, (That can be also worn on her arms!) And a little green leather pouch.

All of her accessories are removable...!

Pandora has handpainted detailing...

Pandora is the most detailed doll I have done so far, I hope you like her!!

Lets Learn how to climb a Tree...

These photos are from a while ago, two weekends or so, but no internet means that blogging has to take a bit of a backseat!! =(

I had the Faeby's for an entire day, and when I asked them what they wanted to do, they decided on going to play in the woods.

We packed up Peter Pan to read, sandwiches, a frisbee and of course, my camera.

Little Fae seems to have a more, daring and no worries attitude to climbing, whereas Blondie likes to survey the situation and make an informed decision!
When she goes for it though, she is indeed rather good! And braver than she knows!!

This was one adventure she was *not* going to partake in!!( You can see Little Fae vanishing into the bush....)

We had a wonderful day, being silly and hiding out in trees. We also enjoyed sloshing around in the mud, trying not to fall, and failing.

They also discovered, with a little nudging (and shoe stealing) that it is much easier to climb in barefoot. They didn't feel quite ready to take of their socks ;)

Say hello to Hemiptera, The Ahpid Keeper..!!

Hemiptera is the guardian for all Aphids and tree bugs alike.

She takes in the abandoned or orphaned babe Aphids, and guards all Aphids from the pesky Ladybirds! She also acts as negotiator between the Aphids and the Ants, securing very good deals for their coveted Honey-Dew!

Did you know?

There are about 4 000 species of aphids in the world!

Aphids eat by inserting tubes called Stylets into the veins of plants, and sucking out the 'juice'. It takes quite a bit of time to tap into a phloem tube, it can be anywhere from 25 minutes to 24 hours from starting to insert the stylets to actually getting something to eat.....!!!

Aphids excretelarge amounts of sugary liquid, called honeydew.,due to high sugar levels in plant phloem.This honeydew can often be seen on the lower leaves of infested trees which it falls on giving them a sticky coating. This is then fed on by other insects like the Common wasp (Vespula vulgari

Honeydew is the reason that ants are associated with aphids. In fact many species of ants are so addicted to this sweet drink that they will protect the aphids from various predators and move them to new plants if the one they are on starts to wilt. Some ants even go as far to build small shelters over species that feed near the base of the plant and or to keeping root-aphids inside their own nests.

So, A mixture of having too much stuff, and not enough money has made me have to sell all the TY beanies I collected as a child.

Going through them has been very nostalgic! There were a couple that I felt I couldn't sell, but on the whole I feel I have done very well.

My brother came in as I was listing them, and kept picking ones up, looking at me and asking, 'You're really selling this one?' and then pocketing it.

I have hundreds...(and a lot are MIA...) So it is going to take me a good long while!! Its taken me all morning to do about 5. =(

Spent the weekend at Rudi's, catching up with my Bestie, and Mummy Mandy

Was lovely to be back at the Howes House, Sat chatting and looking at fae blogs and looking over Mandy's wonderful creations, Hearing how Rudi is, looking at all her fancy schmancy clothes that she buys, and I also got to see all the corsages that she has been busy sewing, which, by the way, are Incredible....

Rudi also treated me to lunch at Cagney's, this awesome little cafe filled with vintage adverts and photos of 50's stars.
